The Reds are trying to retain the services of the 26-year-old, whose contract expires next summer, but at present, he is no closer to signing a new deal.

Liverpool are eager to keep onto the England international and team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah — all of whom are into the last year of their Anfield contracts.
If Madrid are unable to convince Alexander-Arnold to join them, GOAL revealed that they are keeping tabs on Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot — whose contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028. Sources understand he would cost around €50 million (£40m) to land in January.
Aside from transfer speculation and whether or not Alexander-Arnold will stay at Liverpool, his Premier League table-topping side travel to Newcastle United on Wednesday.
